Tess Lloyd is a professor emerita of English at East Tennessee State University. She has done postgraduate work in fiction at the Vermont College of Fine Arts and attended the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. Her blog “The Ten Hour Day” deals with social injustice and social reform in the nineteenth century. Although she has previously published academic writing, “Salisbury Confederate Prison, North Carolina, 1864,” is her first fiction publication.
